The Thomas Pond Improvement Association is a not-for-profit whose primary purpose is to maintain mutually agreeable water levels and to act to protect Thomas Pond.

The Thomas Pond Improvement Association (TPIA) was formed in 1985 to obtain ownership of the Thomas Pond (aka Dingley Brook) dam. At that time Maine law allowed DEP to declare the dam abandoned, take ownership, and transfer it to a new entity. This was completed in 1990 via a Deed and Board Order L-01896-37-A-N.

The primary purpose of the TPIA is to
“maintain and preserve mutually agreeable water levels and to act relative to the repair and ongoing maintenance of said dam.”
This purpose is reflected in the organization’s Articles of Incorporation as amended in 2024.

In addition to the Articles of Incorporation, the Organization has a set of By-Laws, which were amended in 2018 and again in 2024. (More information)
