About TPIA

The Thomas Pond Improvement Association is a not-for-profit whose primary purpose is to maintain mutually agreeable water levels and to act to protect Thomas Pond.

The Thomas Pond Improvement Association (TPIA) was formed in 1985 to obtain ownership of the Thomas Pond (aka Dingley Brook) dam. At that time Maine law allowed DEP to declare the dam abandoned, take ownership, and transfer it to a new entity. This was completed in 1990 via a Deed and Board Order L-01896-37-A-N.

In addition to the Articles of Incorporation, the Organization has a set of By-Laws, which were amended in 2018 and again in 2024. (More information)

TPIA Membership eligibility requires ownership of one or more properties with documented access rights to Thomas Pond.

Eligible property owners become Members upon payment of annual dues. Day-to-day operations & management of TPIA is performed by volunteer Members (listed below).

Membership benefits include:

  • Voting rights
  • Right to serve as an officer or board member
  • Good karma for supporting Thomas Pond

2026 dues are $35
